fair asking price for powerbook - d0e - 01-04-2007
g4 1.5ghz, 2gig ram, 80gig hard drive, superdrive and backlit keyboard. i have all original boxes and packing, thinking of a upgrading but would have to sell this first. should i pull the 2 gigs for separate sale replace the stock 512 or 1gig that came installed?

Search of recently completed items on e-bay yields a price between $750 and $1100.
Interesting to me since it is the exact machine I am using which I would like to trade up for a new MBP - was hoping to wait for 10.5 - but maybe not.

I'm presuming this is a 15 inch. I'd sell it NOW. I personally think there's no better time to sell used Macs than the week *before* the MacWorld Expo. You'll never get a better price.
I used to think leaving the RAM in made for a higher sale, but now I'm not convinced. I recently sold my 1.8 MacBook, and I removed the 2gigs I'd put in it, and replaced it with the 2 256 chips. Sold for top dollar ($975). I then used the 2 gigs in the new Black MacBook I got.
Then again, if you can't use the RAM in a new machine, you may be better off selling with it in it.

yeah i'd like to try to find a buyer with in the next two-three weeks max. thinking i'm pull the ram and put the original back in, maybe make a bit more and not be stuck with extra ram i'll never use.

People here in the SF bay area looking on CraigsList Know the difference between the last rev. 1.67Ghz Powerbooks with the Hi-density 1440pixel screens and those 1.5Ghz with the lower 1280pixel screens. The 1.67s are now sometimes going for around $1000loaded(asking and getting being two different things).
Even the market for those first intel models is collapsing a bit and I see some of those 2.16 Ghz intels going for around $1400.
Yes, you'll get your best price on eBay because midwesterners don't have access to these kinds of direct-sell urban markets and they usually bid stuff up beyond practical price.
