Alternative to Apple's Notes - davemchine - 04-01-2021

I recently posted that I was having trouble with Apple Notes on my Mac. Since then it has gotten much worse. I can type a note on my Mac, it appears on my iPad, it then disappears on the Mac, and it never appears in iCloud.com. What a mess. I need to migrate to something that actually works. What would be your recommendation for an alternative? Must work on both Mac and IOS.

I'd continue to use Notes, without iCloud.

You can use almost any IMAP or Exchange email provider to host notes. Set it up in the Internet Accounts pref's. Any spare account that's not POP.

Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, Office365, etc.

Google Keep

Evernote works, but it’s not free. If you have enough devices, it might be worth it to you.

iCloud does have issues, but mine seem to be tied to Contacts and not Notes.

Have you tried updating Notes so your Mac and iOS devices are all on compatible versions? There was a change a couple years ago that might be causing the issues you describe.

Sekker, I wondered about that but I'm not sure how to figure what versions are compatible.

Are all your devices' OSs fully up to date, Dave?

It works on one device. They got wise to us using a browser on other devices. I waited for them to have a sale and paid for it. I'm a sucka because they took away my favorite feature that everybody loved. Atlas View. You can see your notes on a map. They say nobody used it. For some reason, they're lying about that and they won't budge.
