DON'T
The printing on many cards is thermal. The heat from the laminate can turn it black and unreadable. Authorities are now saying to just take a photo of it for safekeeping and put the card in a safe place

.....they also said that people are posting their cards on instagram.....but the card shows a person birthdate.......so people can steal identities with it, so don't post it for pubic eyes.......

Hi everyone,
Per the FTC (and other sources), do not post photos of your vaccination card on social media. Not a good idea.
Although the BBB link is to the BBB of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, the recommendation holds true regardless of location.
All that said, digitize both sides of your card for safekeeping, i.e. scan both sides or take a pic of both sides. That way, you’ll have a copy in the event you lose your card or it gets ruined. A digitized copy can be stored on your phone, which will make it easy to display if you need it.
My digital copy is stored securely in a password manager for safekeeping and easy access.

Scanned mine plus all the info on the CDC card is in my medical file.
afaik, I have no need to carry the original.

If there are later booster or virus variant shots that become necessary, those would also be recorded on the CDC card.
If the card gets laminated, it won't be possible to add such new vaccination information.
