I would say so.

I'd like to think Apple would offer a plain-old iPod with at least as good of a screen as their friggin' phone. But that's just me.

Maybe it's coming later. I just need a new iPod with more than 40GB of storage so I guess I'll chomp at the current 80GB model.

I think it's GOT to some soon. The Gen 5 iPod is very long in the tooth. As SJ said, the iPod is the #1 VIDEO player. People WANT a WS iPod. This can't wait until the summer or fall. Seems to me Apple is going to have to have another Apple Event soon to announce Leopard, iLife, iWork, and hopefully a WS iPod too other wise I think iPod sales are going to tail off.

I think the ipod is it's own event now but who knows when they will update it. i just know it's going to happen.

I don't doubt it will happen, but the ever-present question of when remains ever-present. Next week? Next month?

Logic says that the widescreens will be used on the iPhone first -- and maybe exclusively for a short while. If there were hard numbers available on how many were ordered for who, coupled with projected (target) sales numbers, you could figure it out.

I actually kind of figured more on a 100GB model iPod announcement, as I swear I read somewhere recently about a "good fit for an iPod" announcement re/a 100GB mini HD.

Still, the store's back up and the iPod 80 is there. Nothing left to do but pace and waffle for a while.

Depends on the size of the screen, maybe the phone's is bigger because it has to do more thing?

Safe?

Yes. Unless... - RAMd®d - 01-10-2007

...you want a widescreen video 'Pod with a touch screen.

Apple released the iPhone first because doing it the other way 'round would have given away the iPhone feature-set.

I bet we see a device like today's without the phone, for $150 or so less. I'm thinking 60 days or less, once the fervor for the iPhone dies down.
