... available for a regular old Mac? That interface beats the hell out of Front Row (then again, maybe it is Front Row 2.0, for all I know).

It works with all Macs with 10.3 or higher but obviously to get 802.11n streaming speed you need a 802.11n card or connect the Mac to an 801.11n access point or router.

No, no, I mean the actual on-screen interface. The movie and song-selection screens that Stevie demoed.

Buy one, and try to clone the hard drive to your Mac.

I wasn't aware AppleTV used software on the Mac. Turn it on, launch iTunes and iTunes (7.1) finds it. Is there more? Also, I was under the impression the interface you see on the TV was coming from the box, not the Mac ...

You're right on all counts. But I believe the question was wether or not you could run the 'Apple TV' OS on a different computer than the Apple TV itself. Say you already own a mini, or have some other mac you want to use as a home-theater computer, this new OS looks like a great solution to add to your hardware, but who knows if it will work or not?

Thanks, Mike, that was indeed the question. I already have a Mini attached to my TV. Front Row is nice, but the stuff Stevie showed off was a lot better.

Like I said in the first post, it wouldn't surprise me if the AppleTV box is actually running Front Row 2.0. We'll see.
