I watch no TV without first recording into my Tivo (Dish's version of Tivo, but it's made by Tivo). Will that new Apple TV device allow me to either Ethernet or wifi those recordings into my Mac?

The iTV is a DISPLAY device.
More like a display console or terminal which runs independantly (if content is already on it) or runs off content on a server.
You put pre-encoded content onto/into it.
It cannot capture.

No, AppleTV will not help you at all. You can now get Tivo recordings into your Mac, if you pay for Toast 8 (seems Tivo couldn't figure out how to do it, so they had to get Roxio to implement it), but I'm not so sure you can get content off a satellite Tivo ...

Wow. Thank you for the heads up! Having recently bought Toast 7, I ignored the announcement of 8, and so I missed this.
TiVoToGo for the mac is long overdue. Of course, it won't work with Series 3, so it may be too little too late.

Maybe indirectly it will, if you use TiVo to Go with Toast's help to turn it into something else (instead of burn it to disk) that can find its way to an iTunes-happy state, if you get my drift.
