flayed alive?!.....'Bobby Flay' egressing/exiting 'Food Network'..... - NewtonMP2100 - 10-08-2021

......after 27 years......contract renewal talks broke down.....seems surprising as he is the face of Food Network......

....surprisingly, they just renewed Guy Fieri for $80 million which they said was twice what he had been getting.....make him the highest paid chef on TV....and his food is gross.......

Bobby Flay and Food Network to Part Ways After 27 Years

.....Superstar chef Bobby Flay and Food Network are poised to part ways after a 27-year run that has made the restaurateur and businessman one of the country’s most recognizable culinary figures.

Flay and Food Network have been in negotiations on a new contract for some time. His most recent exclusive three-year pact with the Discovery-owned cabler expires at year’s end. Sources close to the situation said that Food Network has ended the negotiations.

Flay representatives at WME declined to comment on the situation, citing the policy of not commenting on active negotiations. That’s an indication that Flay’s team sees some hardball negotiating tactics afoot. But sources close to Food Network say the decision has been made to move on as the sides were far apart on financial terms. Food Network declined to comment for this story.

The parting will come as a shock to longtime Food Network viewers. Flay has been a staple of its programming since 1994, when the cabler was still in its first year on the air.

Flay has fronted a slew of series and specials for the cabler, from recent offerings such as “Beat Bobby Flay” and “Brunch at Bobby’s” to the original “Grillin’ and Chillin’ ” series that established Flay as a charismatic chef barbeque master. Flay has also long been a regular contender on Food Network’s many game shows, from “Chopped” and “Iron Chef America” to “Worst Cooks in America,” “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” and “The Next Food Network Star.”

Recently Flay also hosted the series “The Flay List” with his young adult daughter Sophie.

In addition to his TV work, Flay operates numerous restaurants around the country, and he has authored more than a dozen cookbooks. In 2015, Flay became the first TV chef to be recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

say......good....bye......?!

It makes sense that the Food Network would cut ties with one of their few personalities that can actually cook. It hasn't been about cooking for years, just lots of celebrities who judge what others cook.

I'm not a huge fan of bobby flay but I'll choose him any day over Mr. Fieri

Yeah, just reality TV.

I just want you all to know my partner taught preschool to the kids of one of the chefs who has beaten Bobby Flay back in I think season 4. His jaw dropped when he heard pot stickers. It was priceless.

The episode was called "Foreign Relations"

I have both of their burger restaurants near me.

Can't speak to anything else in Fieri's repertoire, but Fieri's burgers are so far above Flay's that there's no contest.

Also, Fieri has become famous x2 for his charitable work. He seems to be a stand-up guy.

Food Network is little more than game shows and garbage plates now. But its decline isn't because of Fieri. He's just riding it down. Discovery has no science shows. Bravo hasn't been the arts channel for decades. MTV hasn't been about music since the 80s. This stuff happens. It's how American culture works. We can't have good things.

It's all about common denominators. Everything is dumbed down. Reality shows and contest shows are cheap to produce because most of the on-air people are there for free, unless they win.

I really miss good shows that TEACH YOU. Not necessarily documentaries, but like cooking shows that really teach. Most importantly WHY you are supposed to do it a certain way. At that, Good Eats excelled, and still does. Same with the post Galloping Gourmet Graham Kerr shows on public access. He is local, and a really great guy. I've met him a few times at small events and book signings. His wife Treena passed not too long ago, BTW.

Flay is too arrogant for me to ever watch again.

Get the video series from Jacques Pepin, that's basically months worth of cooking school.

(Also, buy Harold McGee's book on the science of cooking, which Brown totally ripped off (without credit) for his series.)
