She likes it. Went for a semi budget build. Picked up a used corporate Dell Optiplex 5050 with 6th gen i7 3.4Ghz processor, 16GB ram for $250. Came with a full Windows 10 Pro license. Added a 700W EVGA power supply hooked up externally for $40 and a EVGA RTX 3060 TI for $500. So total just under $800 with tax and everything for a solid gaming PC.

Will likely be able to sell the Dell Power supply for $50 and I'll use that to buy a different case and get the power supply mounted internally.

Here is the geekbench for it: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/compute/3823320

Is that score good/bad/meh?

I looked at some other PCs in the list, but none seem to have OpenCL scores...

Pretty decent for the price. Here is a new MacBook Pro with the M1 Max: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/compute/3823521

Isnt OenCl a graphics thing? Wouldnt expect a MBP to come close, even a new M1M.

Would love to see the power consumption difference.

Where did you find a 3060 for 500? Strike that, where did you find a 3060?

Oh, geez. Ok, that sounds like a good option in a way. Wish I'd known of it a year ago ;-)

Thanks!
