I have two copiers, and five multifunction machines that "Scan to email" that are going to cease functioning as scanners in about 45 days....
They will no longer be able to authenticate to their made-just-for-them Google Workspace for Education email accounts.
Well, unless the four different manufacturers of those devices pull a miracle out of their hat (that they've been unwilling to bother with for the THREE YEARS they've seen this coming)...
I may have to create yahoo mail or other repugnant "free" email account, just so they have access to an SMTP server to send emails...
Likewise, our fax-machine (yes, we still need one of those for some legal documents....) will stop forwarding faxes to the School Secretary's email to be forwarded to the person that needs the fax. So, back to PAPER faxes!

If they are Macs, rather than "push" them, can't you use the Mac built in scanning?
For faxes, use an eFax type service?

The Copiers are big $30,000 multifunction copier/scanners.... and we have five buildings and 100 users, not all of whom have laptops. So, no.
The eFax service might be something we'll get into... but, it's yet another monthly cost, and we have dozens of schools that will continue to fax our fax number (also solvable)...
Just all going to be a PAIN!

I'm not tying device accounts to MY cell phone... And last time I tried (granted, several years ago) they didn't accept a Google Voice number. Not can Google Apps for Education use Google Voice.

It's a take-it-or-leave-it situation.
That's the only fallback to allow less-secure apps to connect.

2. Use SMTP relay for email. You can whitelist your buildings external IP addresses and just use smtp-relay.gmail.com for the address. I don't know if that's current info, or just a few years back...
Haven't figured out how to integrate a USB security key into a multi-function device so it can email scanned documents...
