They don't. The slurs that are second nature and come out from these people are disgusting, have been for as long as I can remember and I grew up there going to games then anchored by players like Bill Russell, Sam and KC Jones and Tommy Heinsohn.

Dave Cowens, a white player from elsewhere, use to tell stories about why he, (an all-star, million dollar player) would on occasion get behind the wheel of a taxi an drive people around. He said it was mostly because he liked being with folks but also thought it might help him figure out why some of them harbored so much prejudice and hate, he never figured that out - not that I heard.
