Wireless extender for FiOS - macphanatic - 04-21-2022 Looking to buy one or two devices to extend my wireless network (FiOS modem). The locations that I would put said devices have gigabit ethernet run to them. So, I want adapters that are wired and plug in via a cable (not directly into an outlet. Would love to find one that I can mount outside as well. Any recommendations? Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - jdc - 04-21-2022 how far? whats the signal like the places you want to extend? FiOS isnt anything special. This would be fine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DHLCLCY/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=0b3354df312a9657278e5348ef9ebde3&hsa_cr_id=5489738380501&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=70ca8ae9-bdd7-41a3-a7d6-247bfb658faa&pd_rd_w=tGM0c&pd_rd_wg=nvhrc&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0_img&th=1 Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - macphanatic - 04-21-2022 jdc wrote: I want to connect it via gigabit Ethernet. It can’t plug directly into an outlet. It either needs to be corded or powered by PoE. Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - anonymouse1 - 04-21-2022 I bought a couple of these, and they worked fine as independent access points. They were too clunky to integrate as one seamless network. So when I want to use them, I had to switch networks. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX6120/dp/B014YN7LVE/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=netgear%2Bextender&qid=1650586392&sr=8-3&th=1 Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - gadje - 04-21-2022 It either needs to be corded or powered by PoE. What is this part supposed to clarify? is there another viable option? My wireless FiOS ATT router seems to go pretty dang far? If I walk out my front door, cross the street... still have a signal... maybe 75 feet? 100 ft+ radiaus. Have you tried yours? Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - mattkime - 04-22-2022 I’d recommend a UniFi wireless access point such as Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Lite Access Point | US Model | PoE Adapter not Included (U6-Lite-US) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QG92M83/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_32BAZE35SGQRY86SSQKA I’m not sure if that’s the best price. I think a paid about $100 each. Config is rather technical Re: Wireless extender for FiOS - Fritz - 04-22-2022 FiOS MoCA. Actiontec MI424WR |
