Can someone explain the CPT terminal on a HVAC capacitor and how to wire it? - Dennis S - 04-24-2022 I had a post below. I’m having a medical event*and can’t concentrate or do too much closeup looking at the unit right now. I need to figure this out so I can order the condenser tonight. I hooked up the old one OK years ago. I can’t concentrate on google instructions. I can count on y’all to simplify things so I can understand. Also I’m having a hard time finding dimensions although I believe that doesn’t matter. But I’d like to use the same strap and screw setup. * I may explain it tonight and I may not. Edit: I mean capacitor, not condenser. It comes and goes. It hit when I was working on the outside HVAC unit. Re: Can someone explain the CPT terminal on a HVAC capacitor and how to wire it? - Cary - 04-25-2022 As far as I know, the choices are: 2 or 3 terminal, voltage and capacitance (measured in farads). They also n come round, oval(ish) or rectangular. I would get the part number off the existing one, and match that. Re: Can someone explain the CPT terminal on a HVAC capacitor and how to wire it? - Dennis S - 04-25-2022 I was confused about hooking up the newfangled CPT but I found this: “The CPT is only used when a hard-start kit is being utilized in the AC unit.” pdq - that helps although I don’t think Amrad will talk to me since I’m a civilian. I should be able to just transfer the wires from the old capacitor to the new one. |
