Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - Lemon Drop - 06-13-2022 Let's do it. WASHINGTON (AP) — Members of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot said Sunday they have uncovered enough evidence for the Justice Department to consider an unprecedented criminal indictment against former President Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The committee announced that Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, is among the witnesses scheduled to testify at a hearing Monday that focuses on Trump’s effort to spread his lies about a stolen election. Stepien was subpoenaed for his public testimony. As the hearings unfold, Rep. Adam Schiff said he would like the department to “investigate any credible allegation of criminal activity on the part of Donald Trump.” Schiff, D-Calif., who also leads the House Intelligence Committee, said that ”there are certain actions, parts of these different lines of effort to overturn the election that I don’t see evidence the Justice Department is investigating.” https://apnews.com/article/capitol-siege-adam-schiff-government-and-politics-presidential-elections-d87892379e7e81c2907edef81a3b2b86 Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - RgrF - 06-13-2022 He's TRUTH channel has cratered and he's lost Murdoch so he's done electorally. Upon indictment he'll initiate a grifting tour to end all grifting yours, that at least will drain some right wing money away from DeSantis or one of the other troglodytes. Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - S. Pupp - 06-13-2022 Unless Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, etc stop with extremist propaganda trying to stoke a civil war, things will not go well for the country if Trump is convicted. These “news” outlets share the blame with Trump, and need to be forced to admit it. Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - cbelt3 - 06-13-2022 Do It. And bring it BEFORE the election. I want the Trump train to explode in flames and take every single Republican traitor with it. INCLUDING Supreme Court justice Thomas. Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - anonymouse1 - 06-13-2022 Other way around, I hope. Convict the leader, and get him out of the spotlight, and things may cool down a bit. Not a lot, but maybe enough... S. Pupp wrote: Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - Ted King - 06-13-2022 If AG Garland has shown anything so far is that he takes his time on whether or not to indict people. A final decision could easily take him into the time frame for the 2024 presidential campaign to be getting heated up (mid to late 2023). In a perverse way that could be in the Democrat's favor because Trump's strongest position against an indictment would be to be an active candidate for the 2024 nomination. I think Trump's hold on the party is continuing to slip and DeSantis badly wants to push him out of the way, but double down Don will be desperate to maintain his viability as a candidate as a counter to a potential indictment by the DOJ. I could see him even threatening a third party go to keep his viability alive. That's pretty speculative, but the GOP is looking at a potential nasty split in the party going into the 2024 campaign season and the prospect of a DOJ indictment could possibly help make it even nastier. A pretty decent excuse. Committee will show video of his earlier testimony. Supposedly he has smoking guns on his boss. Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - deckeda - 06-13-2022 Stepien Now, that’s what I call conceptual timing. “Honey, we gotta do this now. Right now. “ Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - deckeda - 06-13-2022 Stepien He’s one of a few former Trump aides now working for Harriet Hageman, the person propped up to defeat Cheney in Wyoming. $1 says his lawyer’s testimony will include the bare minimum and no more. Re: Jan. 6 Committee says they have enough on 45 to refer to DOJ for a criminal indictment - Lemon Drop - 06-13-2022 These live hearings are not for new testimony, they are just to let the public see witnesses who have already made their statements, so no information is being concealed from the Committee. Stepien was involved in New Jersey Bridgegate. He seems to find trouble. He wouldn't be a star witness at the top of the week if he hadn't shared some useful stuff. I don't think his absence makes a lot of difference. |
