Durham probe ending with a whimper - pdq - 09-14-2022 Wait - who is Durham again? The original investigation into Trump’s Russia scandal, led by then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller, led to a series of striking findings: The former president’s political operation in 2016 sought, embraced, capitalized on, and lied about Russian assistance — and then took steps to obstruct the investigation into the foreign interference. Ooooohhhhhhh yeah - that guy. Whatever happened to that guy? After an extended period of apparent inactivity, the prosecutor last year indicted cybersecurity attorney Michael Sussmann for allegedly having lied to the FBI. The case proved to be baseless, Sussmann was acquitted, and one of the jurors publicly mocked Durham’s team for having taken the case to trial. Said the jury forewoman: "I think we could have spent our time more wisely." ![]() Anyway, now says the NYT (via the link above): The grand jury that Mr. Durham has recently used to hear evidence has expired, and while he could convene another, there are currently no plans to do so, three people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Durham and his team are working to complete a final report by the end of the year, they said, and one of the lead prosecutors on his team is leaving for a [different] job… Sounds like there is only one person holding out hope: Trump wrote [on Truth Social] last month, “The public is waiting ‘with bated breath’ for the Durham Report, which should reveal corruption at a level never seen before in our country.” OoooKay then. :RollingEyesSmiley5: Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - hal - 09-14-2022 yeah, I LOVE this. And I love that Biden let the whole thing roll along without ever mentioning it. Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - Diana - 09-14-2022 Because there was nothing to it. As long as JB ignored it, no one could say that he did anything either with it or about it, and JB could easily say he had honestly forgotten about it. It was stillborn from the start, and any life it pretended to have was given to it by the one person with a personal stake in it and HIS ego wouldn’t let it die. Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - Lux Interior - 09-14-2022 Trump wrote [on Truth Social] last month, “The public is waiting ‘with bated breath’ for the Durham Report, which should reveal corruption at a level never seen before in our country.” He can combine it with all of that "incredible" "unbelievable" info about Obama's birth certificate. Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - RgrF - 09-15-2022 Attorney General Bill Barr tapped a federal prosecutor — U.S. Attorney John Durham — to conduct his own investigation into the investigation. That was over three years ago. Special prosecutors - otherwise known as GOP lawyers full employment act. Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - SteveG - 09-15-2022 HA HA HA HA HA HA Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - DeusxMac - 09-15-2022 Runner-up in the Wilford Brimley look-alike contest. ![]() Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - pdq - 09-15-2022 You know if Durham’s report is even halfways fact-based, Trump is going to call him a RINO. Re: Durham probe ending with a whimper - Ted King - 09-15-2022 The only way Durham could basically say (without actually saying the words) that there wasn't a massive conspiracy against Trump in the FBI is if Durham, too, is part of the conspiracy. That's not surprising since Durham was named by Barr, who used to be thought of as not part of the conspiracy until he said there was no voter fraud in the 2020 election so, of course, now it's clear that he and Durham were part of the conspiracy all along. |
