(CNN)President Joe Biden delivered a speech in Detroit on Wednesday announcing the approval of the first $900 million for electric vehicle chargers across the country, which he says will help build charging stations across 35 states.
"It used to be that to buy an electric car, you had to make all sorts of compromises. But not now. Thanks to American ingenuity, American engineers, American autoworkers -- it's all changing," Biden said in a speech following a tour of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
He added, "Today, I'm pleased to announce we're approving funding for the first 35 states, including Michigan, to build their own electric charging infrastructure throughout their state."
The money is part of the bipartisan infrastructure law and will help build chargers across 53,000 miles of the nations' highway system. The funding will build a half-million chargers across the country, Biden said.

I hope they are robust designs from a hardware and software perspective. Because right now the Charge America stuff is crap, so much so that it could turn people off EVs. They need to take a lesson from Tesla.

Do you mean Electrify America?
I just got a new EV with 3 years free charging on EA's network.
Was easier than I thought.
Just plugged in and started charging.
Someone said that they were doing system upgrades, so all chargers were free, but I don't know anything about that.

In such a ROBUST economy, what's another .9 BILLION dollars to provide electricity that, in MANY areas, is simply in supply so short that there's not enough for the current needs of many states and communities. :dunno:

Best part of having a Tesla is never have to stop for gas, I plug it in twice a week at home and it's full or nearly full in the morning. But next month the wife and I are taking a road trip, 835 miles each wa plus driving in the mountains for 3 days out of our 7 day vacation. Stopping for an hr to recharge would really slow things down, adding hours of travel time. So for this trip, gas it is.

Mine takes 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.

IN what? My Tesla takes close to an hour to go from 20 to 80%, and ONLY that fast as Tesla Superchargers. Most other chargers take 2-3x as long or more. I always charge at home, 240v so it takes 8-10 hrs but I plug in over night.
