Not just any Sherriff. Javier Salazar (D), Bexar County, over 2 million Residents.
Sherriff Salazar is conservative to be sure, but seems to be a relatively fair guy.

Can Abbot handle it like Desantis would? He just removes elected officials he disagrees with. He did that in Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale) and put a murderer in his place.

But conservatives have determined that sheriffs are the highest law of the land.

I'm very glad there is a local investigation by a non-MAGA official. Who led DeSantis to these individuals in the first place?
State criminal charges and federal civil rights charges would be good.
Still don't get what he is doing with Texas residents, couldn't find enough vulnerable people in his own state?

It's really hard to be 'tough on the border' when there isn't one in your state. He had to get creative...

The local dead-tree paper had a piece from the Miami Herald (unfortunately, behind a paywall) that ends:
