15-inch MacBook Pro unit sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 eligible for Battery Recall Program.

I am curious if US Airlines have this prohibition. Last time I flew with a 15" MacBook Pro no one asked me anything.

They do.

The problem is distinguishing it from other Macs.

At one point, my company was recommending that travelers carry a printout from the recall page and checkcoverage.apple.com to show that their Macs were not under recall.

But I haven't heard of anyone stopped for a check in years.

I would guess many airlines are assuming that the effected models have either been taken out of service by now or have gone through the recall and had their battery changed. The newest ones in this group are over 5 years old.

I don't even know when/where they might check. If it's in your carry-on, then it's TSA and not the airline that would even know that you have a laptop and from an x-ray I doubt the know what model. And if it's on the plane, it would likely be after take-off when you begin to use it and a bit too late to do anything about it.

Wasn't there some Samsung phone or tablet that you couldn't bring on board years ago, haven't heard of any checking for that either.

I had a 2016 MBP that was not affected by the battery recall. In November 2019 while loading my flight in Cambodia I saw this sign when I boarded. I thought I was screwed. I kept it in my backpack and they let it through.
That night I decided to make a dummy "About This Mac" image and display it on my desktop, since I had a couple more flights within Cambodia. Luckily I didn't need it.

If you zoom in you can see how badly I did the "8" in 2018.
