I saw those in one of the aftermath photos, I was hoping they were replicas.
But still, why the hell wouldn't you drive those inland?

As the article goes into, the expected storm surge was not initially going to be so high. They had moved many other vehicles from the collection in the time they had, and placed both high on jacks inside a building. The surge was much bigger than expected, washed them right out and off the jacks.
