Why does Apple make setting a damn Alarm on the iPhone so complicated? - Paul F. - 02-20-2023
So, my old fashioned clock-radio-alarm has been temperamental (not to mention the radio station I've got it set to come on to in the morning has been having transmitter issues... and is presently "dead air")....
So, I figured I have this new fangled iPhone, right? I'll just set a weekday alarm to turn on my current Podcast...
I open the Clock app, and... oh.. there's no way to set a "weekdays" alarm. But, what's this? A link to the Health app for "wake up"?
OK, so, I go to Health... and have to set up when my bedtime is to set an alarm? What am I, nine? So now it's plays a little lullaby tone at 9:30pm... I don't want a &#$% lullaby... I just want a damn weekday alarm!
Naturally, there's no SIMPLE way to have it start a podcast in Overcast (my podcast player of choice) at a particular time... I sort of expected that part...
But, I was able to use the "Shortcuts" app to program a "shortcut" to hit Play in Overcast when the "Wake Up" sounds... I don't know if the alarm sound is going to sound TOO, or, if I'll turn off the podcast at the same time I'm turning off the annoying alarm sound that's not found in the Clock app...
Somewhere, at Apple, is some overpaid middle manager I'd like to kick in the nuts for screwing up what SHOULD be a really SIMPLE thing; setting an Alarm... (I'd also like to give a Kudo to the Shortcuts app, which may enable the alarm to play a podcast).
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drop a nice note to the developer of Overcast, asking them to add an "Alarm" feature....

Open clock . Choose alarm . Hit add a new alarm . Set time and day of week . tap repeat for days apple

Or just get a HomePod mini and it will wake you up (on a recurring schedule if you wish) to any sound you like including a radio station or podcast.

'Hey Siri, set alarm 10am every weekday'.
Done.
However, this does not start a podcast, so you're back to clock-radio alarm functionality.

I assume the Health app is trying to remind you to go to sleep.
But I've never had an issue setting an alarm.
That said, I have had issues selecting an alarm among the many I already have set. For example, I select an alarm for 7 AM, but don't notice that it's only a Tu-Th alarm, and I want it on Monday. But that's operator error. The alarms are clearly labeled as such.
Once I watched my oldest offspring selecting an alarm on her phone. I think she had an alarm pre-set for every minute of the day.

Didn't want to waste the time to separate "rant" from"confusion" in the original post. Is the below not the weekday alarm setting you are seeking?
