….Specifically, macOS Sonoma drops support for 2017 models of the iMac and MacBook Pro, as well as the final 12-inch MacBook model.

macOS Sonoma is compatible with the following Macs:

MacBook Pro: 2018 and later
MacBook Air: 2018 and later
Mac mini: 2018 and later
iMac: 2019 and later
iMac Pro: 2017
Mac Studio: 2022 and later
Mac Pro: 2019 and later



……….compatibility……..?!

This will not affect me. Still thinking about expunging Ventura from the one drive on which it is installed.

Basically your Mac will need a secure enclave representative - either T2 or Apple Silicon - to work with all Sonoma's security features like passkeys and all that fancy sharing...

I'll be interested to know what Sonoma allows with Managed Apple IDs.

Recent Intel iMacs do not have a T2 chip and are supported.

I guess they will only be partially supported?

I guess they will only be partially supported?
Recent Intel iMacs including iMac Pros (2019) and 27-inch iMacs dating from 2020 have T2 chips.

Yeah I'd imagine all Sonoma's high security features won't work with them then...
