Re: you beta not cry?!….Apple is making developer betas free to download & install….. - TheTominator - 06-06-2023 Are you sure it's really coming from Apple? I think it might be a beta phish. Re: you beta not cry?!….Apple is making developer betas free to download & install….. - gabester - 06-06-2023 Where's Steve G to complain about a misleading headline? This isn't about making Apple's betas available, it's about them pushing off QA costs onto us users! Apple tests their Core OS features and bug tests those. Developers of both software and hardware need to bug test their apps with each update and report back if they encounter issues. Apple isn't going to catch your bug in iCal that only shows up when you have 12 different calendar accounts syncing and one of them is a gmail account. By making the developer betas free and easily available, there's a wider pool of testers and potentially a greater chance to deliver a really bug free final release. I just installed it! So far so good. May you be awarded the MRF Taking One for the Team Meritorious Citation. What OS did you opt for? I don't have any hardware that I would care to try a beta this early in development. Also, my patience is lacking with the constant beta updates. I tried it with something way back, maybe iOS, but just couldn't stay the course after the final release. Good luck, and keep us apprised if you're of a mind. Re: you beta not cry?!….Apple is making developer betas free to download & install….. - jonny - 06-07-2023 17.0! So far, only tiny hiccups, though, to my eye, the changes are subtle. Re: you beta not cry?!….Apple is making developer betas free to download & install….. - Sam3 - 06-07-2023 I wish there was a beta forum or message board to post questions to other beta users. I have an issue that I think is not beta related, but the Apple store people refuse to diagnose it when they found out I was running a beta installation. Basically the finder search function is not working properly, searching for a file or files will not show it in the local folder, and may or may not show it in the 'On this Mac' even though the file or files are there. |
