wall AC filter replacement - Fritz - 07-21-2023 we have a 25-year-old Friedrich wall AC. Haven't changed the filter in as while. Last time I did I used a 3M filtrete. Should I be using something else. It's old and dirty but not nasty, but I want to change it. Re: wall AC filter replacement - Buzz - 07-21-2023 Are you bragging, or complaining? Hard to tell for those of us sweltering w/o AC! Sounds like a 1%'er from the first world kind of problem. Ask Famke, I'm sure she knows the answer.... looks like she'd be appreciative some AC right about now. ![]() Get whatever's cheapest, and change frequently, or whatever's rated best, and change when indicated. When filters get clogged, devices are forced to work harder, and become less efficient. IIRC, 3M Filtrete is the de-facto standard filter throughout the first, second, and of the third world. ![]() == Re: wall AC filter replacement - Fritz - 07-21-2023 bragging? with 25-year-old wall AC? it ain't central or splits or geothermal or nothing. It's like 10% of the 2nd world. We seldom use it, bloody $$$. Don't they have beaches in California? Or ice? or beer? or ice cream? Or a freezer? too many damn socialistas! sheesh! Famke swelters in NYC. Re: wall AC filter replacement - pqrst - 07-21-2023 Are you having trouble finding a replacement? The corner hardware store has been my go to for filters (enjoy keeping them around). Otherwise had good success with Amazon. Re: wall AC filter replacement - Fritz - 07-21-2023 yea, not a direct replacement anyway, just generic AC filters Re: wall AC filter replacement - Buzz - 07-22-2023 Thanks for the reminder...... my Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream is calling for me now..... only because they were out of Maximum Fudge MT's last Kroger (Ralph's) run. ![]() :yum: == Re: wall AC filter replacement - Fritz - 07-22-2023 I just killed my last 2 pints. NY Super Fudge and Chunky Minkey. Re: wall AC filter replacement - Buzz - 07-22-2023 Those are spousal unit's faves from VT's finest. :yum: == Re: wall AC filter replacement - Fritz - 07-22-2023 mine too. on sale today locally 3/$9. wish Unilever still packaged coconut almond fudge. yum diggity. and Dastardly Mash. Now every flavor is made with pretzels or caramel or both. Yech! The only pretzel there EVER was we got a Yankee stadium in the late 60s when my das' company held a 3rd base box seat. Salty wads of white bread with real brown mustard and "soda here". Them was good times. As long as you stayed away from the dirty water dog. Mantel, Clarke, Bouton, Ford, Downing, Stottlemyre, Pepitone, White. That was the shiznit! Re: wall AC filter replacement - Buzz - 07-22-2023 Funny you should mention those oldies. Spousal unit, and prodigal son, just ran into Bouton the beginning of June while hanging out in Buffalo. Mrs. Buzz came back after a couple of days, but Baby Buzz went on to a three day destination wedding up at Chautauqua..... then stayed in NYC/NJ for another five weeks! Mrs. Buzz went up to Bouton to ask him how the olde timey, ornately decorated steakhouse was, not knowing who he was, just thinking he was a knowledgeable, semi-regular. So w/ both of them being blessed (cursed?) w/ the gift of verbosity, at some point Jim brought up that he was there (in Buffalo) to check out his Big League Chew bubble gum factory. As soon as Jim name dropped the shredded bubble gum treat, Mrs. Buzz called me to tell me who she was hanging out with, and the two of 'em were genuinely impressed when I said "Jim Bouton", as soon as she said she was w/ "the shredded bubble gum guy from Baby Buzz's Little League days....." Small world. Now off for more Extreme Moose Tracks.... :yum: == BTW, my mother had a really dominant pretzel gene, so if she's channeling this thread, you just made her rollover in her crypt. My father had a dominant caramel gene, and for some reason also had a tremendous affinity for peanuts. I'm sure he's still dreaming of Payday candy bars in his crypt. While I like those things, in moderation, damnit-- just GIVE ME MORE CHOCOLATE! |
