Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - Lux Interior - 10-05-2023 Yeah...just got that email. DTV Now was $35 a month (lifetime price!) when I signed up and got a free Apple TV. It's approaching the price of the DTV satellite package I had. Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - gadje - 10-05-2023 lifetime price??? I don't recall that, but let me check emails EDIT: no, they did not promise any lifetime https://cordcuttersnews.com/did-directv-now-really-promise-35-for-life-we-investigate/ Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - Robert M - 10-05-2023 gadje, No surprise. Cutting the cord can save people money but that's only if their cost for access to the Internet doesn't increase as a part of the process _and_ they are careful about number of streaming services they've subscribed to for content and how much they cost. Unfortunately, cutting the cord isn't for everyone and is neither worth it nor appropriate regardless of how much it could save them. Robert Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - stephen - 10-06-2023 Yep, I was one of the original $35 people. Ouch. Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - sekker - 10-06-2023 stephen wrote: Us, too. I signed up in 2016, and the offer was that you get to keep the $35 plan as long as you stay with the service. I'm sure it's much like "unlimited data" that is still capped in reality, and they gave themselves an out. But that's what the offer was. I don't recall if they said anything about lifetime... I checked my first few emails from them and I didn't find anything. I had that promo, 3 months at $35, $105 total for a free Apple TV. The service was C R A P for the first few months, it would buffer all the time, but they they got their S H I T together and fixed the problems, and now it works really well IMHO. Re: Cut the cord is EXPENSIVE - stephen - 10-06-2023 I continue to use it because I can use one account in two cities. I don't see a better option on the market at this time, though I will keep eyes open. |
