Apple Update weirdness - ztirffritz - 02-20-2007

Is anyone else having problems with the last update from Apple? My G4-800 iMac is suddenly having fits of trouble dealing with CDs. I tried to burn one and it crashed the Finder and iTunes. Before it crashed it showed that the disk had finished burning. I pop the exact same CD into another computer and it shows that it is blank...what the heck!? I just rebooted and I'm going to repair permissions. Just wondering if anyone else was having problems.

G4 1.25 Ghz eMac did not like the update. Froze in the middle of Security update. (44%) Upon restarting, no installations (JAVA or time zone) had been installed (even thought it stated they had before Security). Weird.

When I first ran it on my Pismo after installing 10.4.6, it seemed to download the combined update to 10.4.8 but, in fact, failed (the Java update also failed). A second go got both. A third try showed about a half dozen more updates. Seemed weird to me. Software Update #4 finally showed no other updates available.

Downloaded that yesterday, had a difficult time recognizing my airport express for awhile. I am not sure what I did to fix it, ran permissions, re-started, but then it just started working again.

Is this the 10.4.8 combo? I downloaded it last night and had to restart the download a three times (kept hanging at 42.3 Mb.'s) before it finally worked.

Do you think there's something wonky with update?

Should I wait a couple of days and re-download it?

What do you think?

TIA.
