Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - jonny - 03-26-2024 https://youtu.be/EDMinX6t1Zk?si=TxhyNC-3ixx9wpXG&t=341 Good stuff. Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - sekker - 03-26-2024 indeed Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - wurm - 03-26-2024 Admittedly, I'm not his target audience, and I think what he says is good and important, but I find him much more palatable as a guest on an interview show. I know people tune in for the whole 'performance', but between his shouting, and the audience roaring at everything he says, I usually bail after a minute or so. Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - RAMd®d - 03-26-2024 I cast Stewart and Oliver in much the same light. Their antics get in the way of their message, but I to am not the target demographic. That appeals to the 'Oh something bad's happening - let's go watch!' crowd. I don't need the profanity, but again — target audience. The key is to remember it's not news, it's comedy— comedic editorializing, relying on the audience already knowing the events in question. I don't think I've seen him as a guest, but I'm sure I'd like that venue much better. I’ve not watched him since then. Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - Lux Interior - 03-27-2024 Profanity is part of language and it has its place and its fucking time. Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - RAMd®d - 03-28-2024 Profanity is part of language and it has its place and its @#$%& time. Steward should learn the time and place. He uses it poorly and to excess, wasting whatever positive effect it might have had. He almost always sounds like a 10yo who's just learned a naughty word. He should take a cue from savvy Brits. Well, except Oliver, who does likewise. Re: Jon Stewart Deconstructs Trump’s "Victimless" $450 Million Fraud - DeusxMac - 03-29-2024 RAMd®d wrote: Somewhat OT, but I basically agree. Profanity can be an extremely effective communication tool IF not overused. But if used constantly its value is diluted to the point of meaninglessness. Analogy: If there is someone who never cries crying, you have information that something truly serious has happened. But if there is someone who cries at the least little thing, seeing them crying is meaningless.
