Re: Good comic strip on Lieberman - pdq - 04-03-2024 Yeah- four years after the party picked him as the VP candidate, he did everything but kiss Bush’s ass. Lieberman gets extra credit for that wonderful adventure in Iraq, for sure. Re: Good comic strip on Lieberman - jonny - 04-04-2024 :patriot: Re: Good comic strip on Lieberman - sekker - 04-04-2024 He was a complicated person for sure. I cannot point all of the blame on critical limitations of Obamacare on a single person. Re: Good comic strip on Lieberman - gabester - 04-04-2024 You know, I don't think I ever hear anything good about anything Lieberman ever did. I'm not saying he didn't do anything good, but 1) Arguably lost Gore the Presidency in 2000 2) TT comic assertion above that his action got public option and lowering eligibility age removed from health care plans 3) Was obsequious to the 43rd President, AKA Bush II, "W". 4) Seems otherwise forgettable, because I remember nothing else about him. He personally was threatening to lead a filibuster if that remained in th legislation. Joe Lieberman got voted in as a Senator from CT due to a coalition of supporters that included conservative Republicans. They thought the incumbent GOP Senator Lowell Weicker was too liberal, and this was back in 1988. Just a foreshadowing of his mixed up career as a Senator. Re: Good comic strip on Lieberman - Acer - 04-04-2024 Seems like Gore could have done better. At the time, John Edwards was an attractive choice, though he was also from the South. Gore chose to not run on his record. Probably the most successful and popular presidency in the modern era. |
