Boom Part 2: Update on John Force - Diana - 06-27-2024

For those interested, Force has been moved from trauma intensive care to neurological intensive care following his crash Sunday. Head injury is what was stated by the team, and that “he has a long road ahead of him.”

Prayers.

We're not made to do stuff like that.
Go Johnny, Go, Go, Go.....
Get better ASAP.

Does not sound great.

So, what I was told is that initially he was semi okay, usual Force, then he got real quiet and they called for the chopper?

As I’m sure others can tell you chopper, the chopper is present for all races in case it is needed. The list of reasons to be careful here is long—he’s old (75, I hope I’m as active at that age); the chutes did not deploy AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO; he pancaked the wall on his left side, potentially causing internal damage; most likely whacked his head pretty badly, hence head injury. The crash didn’t look that bad, and he survived those that looked worse. But only came back after quite some time rehabilitating. I wouldn’t be surprised if the latest crash ends his racing career (but I really hope not as I really like seeing him be himself). And yes, there was likely a replacement chopper waiting in the wings.
