WiFi bulbs and power failures …. Aaargh - cbelt3 - 09-06-2024

Has anyone found a solution ? I’m trying to find WiFi bulbs that don’t have to be reprogrammed after a power failure. I decided to not wire my basement with switches, and it’s kind of making me annoyed. And yes I use the Bezos Spy robot .

We have Wyze bulbs that I haven't had to reprogram after a power outage.

A smart bulb that lost its settings due to a power failure would be one of the dumbest things ever.

They're designed to retain settings when the light switch is turned off.

Do you have a "smart hub" ...? Maybe it's glitching? Or you have lousy WiFi in the basement?

Second the experience with Wyze bulbs.

Nanoleaf bulbs retain settings and optionally even retain their state after a power failure:

Two separate issues:

1) Wifi bulbs that turn ON after a power outage. We have plenty of Wyze bulbs that do this.

2) Wifi bulbs that need to be reprogrammed after power outage. I actually do not have any of those.

Which bulbs do you have?

My Philips Hue bulbs would all turn on full brightness when power was restored, regardless of previous settings.

The would not need to be reprogrammed.

A firmware update has them return to the state they were in at the time of the outage.

There is still no reprogramming necessary.

Ditto what others are saying - I think i have two Wyze or is it Kasa bulbs that come on after a power failure but never had to reprogram

I just bought a 2 pack of Govee bulbs last week that I will be trying out over the fall (installed one) - had a glitch - not sure it was with the Amazon Echo Show or the bulb itself.
