1963 AC Greyhound Full Restoration Slideshow - Thrift Store Scott - 01-15-2025

I started to DM this directly to Fritz, but decided to share it with the forum at large in case anyone else might be interested-

I'd never heard of an AC Greyhound before, not surprising since only 81 were ever built. They're 2+2 coupes built on a lengthened and somewhat improved AC Ace/Cobra chassis, and in design and execution appear to be something of a more "budget-friendly" but just as British alternative to an Aston Martin DB5.

Related to the AC Ace https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Ace
Which Carroll Shelby transformed into the famous AC Cobra

Masterful restoration work although I'm not a fan of the new color

We did a 1953 Morris Minor once. If you have a shop and a lift none of this is difficult.

I see they pop-riveted the new tin in the floor and elsewhere. Good luck.

That was sweet. I have tremendous respect for restorers who do that level of work, especially hand-forming body panels.

I like the silver better than the red it was when they found it, but neither would've been my first choice if it had been up to me. They went back with red for the interior, so perhaps the car was originally silver and was changed to red post-purchase by a previous owner?

If it was mine, I'd have gone with medium metallic blue (the shade often seen on Shelby Cobras, or perhaps an ever-so-slightly darker version) with a black interior.

Yes, a person connected with the restoration posted this pinned comment:

Mike Gassman wrote:
the car had been repainted red in its short term of use before going into the barn, we researched the car and AC record show it was born in silver with oxblood interior, we did not make this video, although well done, we will have it at its first concours soon and will post a video running and driving, thanks for all the nice comments,Mike Gassman

So restored to original colors or close to for interior and exterior.
