Heh! For about the past two weeks I've been considering buying some 1 oz. gold coins. I'm getting the feeling lately that things may go south really fast and having some bug out cash might be a prudent strategy to consider. Looks like I'm not alone.
Anyone got some advice here? I know virtually nothing about investing in gold coins, bars, or ingots. What are the pros and cons?

Not sure if there are limits to how much you could take to another country, without declaring or paying a duty on it.
You would still have to convert it to some sort of currency to actually use it.
Not sure I want to buy anything at “an all time hight”

That's what makes me laugh. Whenever I have a "bright" idea, seems like everyone else is way ahead of me. And yeah, I know it's high right now. I'm one of those people who always buys "on the dip". I won't jump in until it does.
