"COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina man convicted in a 2002 double murder is set to die Friday by firing squad, a rarely used execution method never before carried out by the state.
Barring a last-minute reprieve from the governor’s office or the U.S. Supreme Court, Brad Sigmon’s execution is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia. Sigmon, 67, would be the oldest inmate executed by the state."

I understand they give some blanks so you never know if you shit the real bullet or a blank.
Also what happens if all shooters miss? What if they miss on purpose?

If it has to be done, there’s got to be more humane ways to do it. I recognize the absurdity of what I just said.

Honestly, wtf. As I’ve said before, you could put him under and throw him in the freezer and it would be much, much more humane (not that I like that option either). This just reeks of a show.

To be honest, I am totally and 100% opposed to the death penalty – but if a state absolutely will not see the light, then I believe firing squad is more humane than any of our modern methods. I guess the victim, er, prisoner agrees with me because he chose it from an appalling selection of firing squad, lethal injection, and electric chair. My only qualm is that there are three executioners, whereas traditionally there are at least five or six. Therefore there is more chance of them all missing the heart. But I would still rather be shot to death than experience the horrific manners of death that all recent executions have resulted in.
The death penalty is racist, does not deter crime, and is just a sickening form of savage revenge. It needs to be gone.

Dude chose this method as he couldn't trust the other two ("ol' Sparky" or "the needle"). Pretty sad choice, but maybe, just refrain from doing the heinous crime in the first place.
Murder as the punishment for murder is archaic. Many humans suck at being humane.

Time of death 6:08 pm.
First firing squad execution in state history. Only the 4th in the US in 50 years. Other 3 all in Utah.

Firing squads are a regular event in dictatorships. Expect Trump to require military weapons testing on humans shortly, like his buddy lil Kim.
