As already reported, Gene Hackman's wife Betsy Arakawa died of f hantavirus about 9 days before they were found. Hackman died of heart disease several days later.
Authorities, working to lay out a timeline of what happened, said Hackman had advanced Alzheimer’s disease and may have not realized he was alone in the days before he died.

this is very sad, but I'm finding the story is too invasive for public notice. I understand it's part of a police investigation.

A very sad ending to an otherwise great lifetime. Demented and dying all alone … No other family members involved? That's the really sad part.
