+President Donald Trump said he has ordered his administration to raise tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports by an additional 25%, bringing the total duties to 50%.
+Trump said he was imposing the latest tariffs in response to a decision by Ontario’s government to slap a 25% tax on electricity exports to the U.S.
+Trump also repeated his calls for Canada to be absorbed into the U.S. as the “Fifty First State.”

"The announcement of the 25% tariff on electricity to the U.S. was made by Ontario’s premier, Doug Ford, and energy minister, Stephen Lecce, at a press conference Monday. The electricity being imported to the U.S. primarily goes to three states: New York, Michigan, and Minnesota, though customers in other neighboring states like Wisconsin will also feel the impact. At least 1.5 million Americans will see the price hike, according to Canada’s CBC.
The new tariff will add about $10 per megawatt-hour to electricity heading from Canada to the U.S., generating about $300,000 to $400,000 per day in extra revenue, according to the CBC. That money will be used to support businesses negatively affected by American tariffs imposed by Trump."

Locally, Kohl’s (a lower-end department store, something like a local, midwestern Penny’s) was off 25%. Retail has not been doing well for some time, but I would guess they must have guided lower with the current economic environment.
TSLA was up - it gained back ~4% of the 15% it lost yesterday, after Trump said he would buy a Tesla (as if he actually drives). Gold again flirting with new highs.
CPI released tomorrow AM.
