Edits not sticking when replacing file - Jerry_Registered - 06-30-2025 First - why does copy/paste not work here? Second - I've been running into an issue when I try to save things just to a document or Image. If I open a file from my desktop or a folder, then make edits and then try to save it in the same location with the same name I get a dialogue asking if I want to replace the existing file. I click "Replace" but later when I open the file again, none of my changes were saved-- it's still the old version. It's like the file isn't actually updating even though I told it to replace the original. Has anyone else experiences or know might be causing it? Thanks. Running macOS 15.5 on my m2 mini RE: Edits not sticking when replacing file - halbert - 06-30-2025 if you are look at this unchanging file in a browser, then do a hard refresh (should be opt-r or opt-com-r) - the file might have changed but the browser wasn't told that anything is different so it delivers the same old file from its cache. You want it to get it again fresh. copy / paste works fine here (below are two bits of pasted text - no changes needed - looks fine to me) Second - I've been running into an issue when I try to save things just to a document or Image. Running macOS 15.5 on my m2 mini Being told Aaron Ekblad is staying in Florida RE: Edits not sticking when replacing file - special - 06-30-2025 Copy/Paste works. For me, when I copied text from another website and paste here, it shows up in really, really small font like font size 1 or 0, basically a bunch of dots. Business groups and clean-energy developers are apoplectic over a last-minute provision tucked into President Donald Trump’s spending bill that will tax the solar and wind industry, making it much harder to get new, cheap electricity onto the grid. I select that text, click the Remove formatting button and it shows up just fine. Like this. The alternative is to enable "Quick Reply" in your control panel, then the reply box shows up under the thread and when you paste there, it shows up just fine. This small font text only shows up in the main reply window. ![]() The second issue: no, it should show you the updated file. Have you tried a restart, or check your SSD with Disk Utilities? OK yeah this is exactly what pasted text looks like but my failing eyes just saw a small thin line. Thanks for clearing that up. My SSD is fine when I run disk utilities. Not sure what else to try. The issue still continues to plague my Mac. |
