...will she (wink wink) be able to just delete these spam threads? More importantly, is there a way to allow only registered users to post or even view? We have tens of regular members, but Guests in the several hundreds.

Yeah, it would be nice if we only allowed registered people to read, but then how will the prospective people get motivated to sign up? if they see some interesting topics, they may be motivated to register, otherwise if they see a locked gate, no one will bother to unlock the gate to see what's inside.
Unless we promote this to friends and colleagues to attract new people.
OMG I just looked at "For Sale & Free Items". What e mess.
And a quick observation: many of these spammers list their Location as a foreign country and some stuff in the Bio field. I have seen this pattern for many spammers here.

I vote that rgG forces the Russian spammers / bots to wear thongs.
But yeah, I made it clear in another thread that I think we need some form of 2FA for registration. I would even be in favor of a required phone number for authentication, which would probably prevent most of the spammers/bots from signing up. Yes, that might discourage some real folks from signing up. But if it's made clear somewhere what the rules are, and why they are what they are, I think the real people will go for it.

You know, if it were possible, I'd be happy to be a mod with limited powers, to just delete and ban these spammers and their threads. I get on the forum often enough that such a simple task would not be burdensome to me.

I think it's safe to say that any one of us regulars would also be happy to serve such a function if it were possible.
