my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - Kiva - 01-25-2006 this is nuts: ![]() ![]() more here: http://fincher.org/Misc/Pennies/Sent3.shtml Re: my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - mikebw - 01-25-2006 you know, I used to do this very same thing when I was a kid, but with pennies. I would make two stacks like that, but only one hump tall, and connect them like a bridge. Pretty cool and stupid at the same time. Re: my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - Jimmypoo - 01-25-2006 Some friends of mine from school still do this bridge thing. Of course, one of them is a mechanical engineer and works for the Illinois DOT - so maybe it isn't quite the same thing. They use steel and concrete, etc. Re: my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - 3d - 01-25-2006 NICE! I'll be trying this out tonight with my penny stash before watching LOST. What's easier, pennies or nickels? Re: my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - Psurfer - 01-25-2006 What the hell kind of coins are those? Re: my second useless post within 5 min: coin stacking...(bandwidth warning) - mikebw - 01-26-2006 Those look to be quarters. It's a common denomination in the US currency system. You may have seen a few in your time. I would say nickels are easier because they are thicker, therefore easier to handle and roughly the same diameter as a penny. On the other hand, pennies will afford you a lower center of gravity or a more stable structure. |
