Snail mail blowing up with cedit card offers. - ho'ard - 01-26-2006
Not that I've never received one before, but very suddenly I'm getting 3 or 4 credit card offers a day in the mail.
Does anyone know what sorts of things would trigger this?

It's a seasonal thing.
Same thing is happening here.
What's your credit score? That'll have an effect.

It's pretty high. But it has been for a long time.
I would guess it's taken a hit in the last few months now that I've gone from one to 3 mortgages and probably had my score pulled a zillion times.
What other things can trigger it though? Opening a bank account? Applying for new utility service of some sort?
Spending more money each month?
I'm not surprised yours is high too Elmo. You seem like someone who would be pretty cautious in your dealings.

I get an envelope from Citibank about once a month marked "Last Chance". I usually shred them but I may start opening them and sending the return postage paid envelope back empty.

thanks-- doesn't really bother me that much-- if anything it gives me reassurance that at least some of my mail is getting to me. It just goes in the recycling.

I did that once or twice in a previous life in which junk mail seemed worthy of a smidgen of my time.
