Refunded Paypal pymnt takes how long to "clear"? - Psurfer - 04-17-2007

An individual has issued a refund for a paypal payment I had sent him, which I PP'd from my credit card. Email from Paypal says, "This refund will remain pending until the funds have cleared from the sender's account. You will receive an email notification once the funds have become available in your PayPal account."

How long is that supposed to take?
I don't see how this refund should be any different than any normal payment -- except PP wanting to hold on to the funds for a while, to make up for the lack of a fee on the transaction.

And I don't even know what this means:

Q. Why is my payment being processed later?

A. For certain transactions, the merchant can choose to first request an authorization for payment and then process the payment at a later time. Merchants may need to do this in order to confirm item availability, assemble your goods, or account for late changes to the order.

3-4 days if the refund is via bank/e-check.

5-7 days if it's a failure. I had a refund take a full week, then fail. No idea why.

Thanks Grim. When money is actually there, does PP notify again?

As soon as you send in your left arm.

When I have had refunds, PP notifies me by email when they've cleared. I then grab the $$ and run...
