BGnR Re: Unlocked iPhone? - Robert M - 06-12-2007 BGnR, Purchase the phone. Use it with any GSM based cellular service provider. No contract. I can already tell you that's a _huge_ selling point for a slew of people. We just have to wait and see if the iPhone is worth the investment. I know what "UnLocked" means, I was wondering why SeaCrest was jumping around so ecstatically for. Unlocked cells are a given. BGnR Re: Unlocked iPhone? - Carnos Jax - 06-12-2007 I guess the presumption is, that since Apple controls their hardware pretty tightly, the iPhone would have been more difficult to unlock. Re: Unlocked iPhone? - mattkime - 06-12-2007 the reviews indicate that there are many very happy iPhone owners. this bodes well for the initial release. Re: Unlocked iPhone? - Robert M - 06-12-2007 BGnR, For the exact reason I stated in my post. I never considered it a given that the iPhone would ship unlocked. Given Apple's history, I felt it was more reasonable to assume that it would do what it took to prevent unlocking to ensure buyers stated with Cingular/AT&T. The fact that someone is advertising the iphone as unlocked is great news and definitely exciting to some people. I hate to break it to you, but at this point, it's all speculation and conjecture! ~A Re: Unlocked iPhone? - Seacrest - 06-12-2007 Be interesting to see if they actually succeed in selling these. I wonder how they intend to procure them. Certainly Apple won't be wholesaling them to them. I suppose they could buy them from at&t, pay the term fee and break the contract. Also, without using "the new at&t's" network, many of the "wow" features won't be available. Re: Unlocked iPhone? - jimbrady - 06-12-2007 I'm jumping around ecstatically. Can you tell? |
