saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - robfilms - 06-21-2007 i'm a dad. my kids are of the age where most films i see in a theatre are the ones my children want to see. some are fine, some aren't. many are animated, many have characters in full coustume, and some try for romance or comedy. i don't really care about the films. i like taking them to the flicks so i can be with them. in fact, the best part of going to the movies with my kids is having them "re-enact" all of their favorite or least favorite moments in the movie they just watched minutes ago. so i was surprised that i agreed to see "knocked up" last nite with a buddy of mine whose wife was away at a wedding with their youngest child and their oldest had just started camp the day before. this quasi-bachelor moment meant catching a 10pm show at a midtown theatre. the theatre was fairly crowded a fact that surprised me since these days i don't venture out too late during the work week. i must admit i thought the film was very funny, stupid, insipid, inspired, druggy, gratuitous sex jokes, fart jokes, outrageous, sentimental and there were even moments of true insight into the nature of men/women and relationships. and through it all, i laughed out loud. it has been a while since i did that so often and for so very long. lastly, i saw 40yr old virgin as a netflix entry and thought so what. just one person's opinion. be well rob Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - honu - 06-21-2007 Katherine Heigl isn't bad on the eyes either. Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - Mike Sellers - 06-21-2007 Some friends told me they went with their 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend and were mortified that the f bomb was dropped liberally and gratuitously throughout, something no review ever mentioned. That combined with some of the subject matter made for a very uncomfortable evening for all parties. Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - 3d - 06-21-2007 On RottenTomatoes it got: 91% Fresh from Critics. 92% Fresh from Users. That's a rarity. The title of the movie is "Kocked Up". It's rated R, for sexual content, drug use and language. Forget the f*cking language, the boyfriend wants to get some action after the movie and the helicopter parents are there tagging along. WTF?! Did the parents buy the tickets and share a box of Raisinets with them too? Haha. Poor guy ![]() Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - Microman - 06-21-2007 The two thumbs up left overs (as they are getting sick and having a replacement) rated it the BEST MOVIE of the year so far. I thought it was ok, but not for everyone. Sex scenes with a pregnant lady. They did not like Georgia Rule, and I thought it was great. Showed L. Lohan just like in real life. And Jane Fonda is great, and I have forgiven her many years ago for sitting on a TANK..... They did not like Georgia Rule, and I thought it was great. And Jane Fonda is great. The 2 other people that saw that movie also thought it was great. Needless to say we will never be going to the movie together after that statement... ![]() Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - Mike Sellers - 06-21-2007 [quote 3d]It's rated R, for sexual content, drug use and language. Shows you what I know. I've only seen the preview and it looks like a rental at best for me. Not my type of flick, except for the Katherine Heigl eye candy. From what the parents told me, I assumed it was a PG-13, slightly raunchy light comedy. Looks like they didn't do their homework. I'll have to tell them they got mocked online. ![]() Re: saw "knocked up" in a real movie theatre and i laughed out loud. - Kiva - 06-21-2007 [quote Mike Sellers]Some friends told me they went with their 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend and were mortified that the f bomb was dropped liberally and gratuitously throughout, something no review ever mentioned.
