Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - jimbrady - 07-25-2007 Aspire Digital is out of business. The thing looks perfect, just doesn't work. Here are some pics (part of my Woot Bag of Crap): ![]() ![]() ![]() 50 watt sub with a nice looking dome, 150 watt amp (and a rather huge heat sink protruding rearward)... I like the included cables and atennae (though I don't really need them). Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - The Grim Ninja - 07-25-2007 I could certainly find some usage, but how about trying to diagnose it first? Besides, it's pretty heavy to ship... Find where the fuses are. There's probably a few inside, break it open and take a look. Also look for any charring, black, explosions, ect. Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - Go To Top - 07-25-2007 My not old KLH sub/amp develped a screech when my Roomba came near. Cost me $12 to drop off at dump. Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? This is good advice, though I'm wary of wasting more of my time on this thing I really don't need. The main fuse seems fine, if I find others inside, will I be able to find/replace them? Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - OWC Jamie - 07-25-2007 Given that it's heavy. Given that it's been handled been OTR. I'd look for loose plugs and that sort of thing inside along with fuses . Bag o crap. still a better return than the typical lottery ticket. Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? Muffman - 07-26-2007 It is an interesting unit from looking at places that still have it in stock. AM/FM tuner and a 150 W 5 channel amp in a subwoofer? It could be the center for a kids computer surround system. Someone has priced them with a $165 BIN. http://search.ebay.com/120137092455 If I got one in a BOC, I would spend at least a little time hunting for a service manual or a circuit diagram to troubleshoot it, but I like tinkering with electronics. Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - mikebw - 07-26-2007 Two major parts- the amp and the driver (the actual cone and magnet part). At least one of them should still be good. Figure out which one it isn't, sell the other. Re: Any use for parts from my DOA subwoofer/amp? [bandwidth?] - jimbrady - 07-26-2007 Hmm. I'd enjoy the challenge of fixing it... except only if I were successful. |
