anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - thekingofboggle - 07-26-2007 i found the Wiebetech Ultragb+ which is unforunately discontinued, does anyone else make something like this? Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - Zoidberg - 07-26-2007 That was the one I was going to type in here. I've never heard of another one; the 3.5 drives are too power hungry, I guess, to be supported by the bus. Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - jdc - 07-26-2007 and the wieb was $150... FWIW, my 2.5" 80 gig 5400 rpm FW drive is pretty damn fast...and 200 gig 7200 rpm ones are even faster Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - Gareth - 07-26-2007 Bus powered 3.5" drives went away when 7200rpm became the norm for 3.5" drives. Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - thekingofboggle - 07-26-2007 it seems like barefeats use it with a 7200rpm drive http://www.barefeats.com/hard56.html Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - jdc - 07-26-2007 thats a really old article... http://www.barefeats.com/rosa06.html Re: anyone know of a bus powered 3.5" external enclosure? - Gareth - 07-27-2007 that's a 2.5" 7200rpm drive. Not many problems running ANY 2.5" drive firewire bus powered. 3.5" 7200rpm drives are a whole different story. |
