Please explain this.... and make it so I don't cry... OK??

Re: McCartney with JayZ - Guitarman - 02-09-2006

DJ danger mouse did an online remix of the beatles white album and jay-z's black album. It was amazing, but shut down by the beatles publisher (Michael Jackson) and I guess Apple Records or whoever owned the masters.

Tonight they did Yesterday with McCartney, Jay -Z and Linkin Park. It was pretty cool.

Jay-Z was wearing a John Lennon t-shirt. I wonder how Paul took that.

I was wondering what was on that shirt. I would hope McCartney had no problem with it.

it's called giving respect.

Re: McCartney with JayZ - SteveJobs - 02-09-2006

That was OKAY, but a crappy rendition replete with yucky rap badness.

Re: McCartney with JayZ - Fritz - 02-09-2006

Helter Skelter, which Paulie played earlier, is a Lennon comp. I'm sure Paul had NP with a t-shirt

Re: McCartney with JayZ - Jimmypoo - 02-09-2006

Helter Skelter is NOT a Lennon comp.

They sang what they wrote. Paul wrote that song in response to a conversation he had with Pete Townsend, and his comments on having just written the "trashiest, nastiest, thrashiest song...." and Paul said to himself, "oh yeah?"

You can hear Paul's early memory tracks of it on one of the anthologies.

Even on those songs jointly written (really written together or merged parts):

examples being of the former:

A Hard Day's Night

the latter:

A Day in the Life

They each sing their own respective parts of the song that they contributed.

The only Lennon song I've ever heard McCartney play live is Strawberry Fields, during the 1993 tour. That was a tribute. He also did "Something" during the 2003 tour while telling stories about George, and playing them on a Gibson Uke that was a gift from George's collection.
