Herbie and Christine - JoeM - 02-09-2006 He: Oh he sure can play. She: very painful Re: Herbie and Christine - decocritter - 02-09-2006 She started off okay .....then her scatting lost it. She got very carried away.. Love Leon Russel's version of it. Re: Herbie and Christine - Guitarman - 02-09-2006 There's a 60ish guy who can play. She was sort of hanging in but at the end yikes. Re: Herbie and Christine - JoeM - 02-09-2006 She's got it but I just can't understand why she just doesn't stop all dat nonsense and ...sing. Maybe she needs to get older, WTF? Re: Herbie and Christine - Guitarman - 02-09-2006 She's just not a jazz vocalist. She shouldn't of even tried to scat. That she was able to hold it together and sing the song over all those amazing reharmonizations and substitutions that Herbie was throwing at her says a lot. She just can't improvise. Re: Herbie and Christine - JoeM - 02-09-2006 Yup, you hit it. I got the new Andrea Bocelli - Amore CD and her harmony lines were pretty amazing. Then she started the scatting, ugh. Re: Herbie and Christine - hal - 02-09-2006 I thought you were talking about the new hit movie about the cars... y'know Herbie (the love bug) and Christine (the psycho murderer car) but I guess not... Re: Herbie and Christine - N-OS X-tasy! - 02-09-2006 I saw the beginning of the performance but not the end, so I missed the scatting. I thought she started out quite well, though. Also, she looked classier than I've seen her look in a long time. The stewardship of a master such as Hancock is precisely what the young Ms. Aguilar needs at this point in her career. I hope she continues to follow this path. Re: Herbie and Christine - Fritz - 02-09-2006 too many solos as once. started off well, then fell apart quickly. but Christine was better then I'd heard in a while. Re: Herbie and Christine - Zoidberg - 02-09-2006 (I thought the same thing, Hal). But agreed; Christina needs to go this direction and away from the bubble gum. (Do they still call it bubble gum pop? or is it crack pop? I dunno.) And, FWIW, Chick has a new CD out too: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=120316947&s=143441 |
