Requiem for the Dell DJ - Silencio - 02-09-2006

Oh, wait: that would assume that anyone either a) actually bought a Dell DJ, or b) cared either way.

Gotta love the Dell spin, though: "'We saw an opportunity to streamline and consolidate our portfolio,' Dell spokesman Liem Nguyen said in a statement." Good luck with that janky little Ditty, which will undoubtedly meet with a similar fate very soon.

Seeya, wouldn't want to be ya.

If I were president of Dell, I would sell off the music division and give the proceeds to the shareholders.

New slogan: "Dell -- our computers and peripherals suck, but we still make nice LCD monitors"

Doesn't Planar make their monitors?

I don't know about that pRON, but I sure like my Planar PL2010M 20" LCD. I've had it for 2 years this month, and I can't say enough good things about it.

I had thought it was SONY who manufactured DELL LCD.

I was under the impression that Samsung manufactured LCD's for Dell. If not now, perhaps in recent years.

Re: Requiem for the Dell DJ - Silencio - 02-09-2006

I think whoever can offer Dell the best combination of price/quality makes their LCDs. Samsung seems the most likely candidate for the 20" and 24" models, certainly. I thought Samsung and Philips (plus LG and Sony?) were the main manufacturers of the LCD panels themselves.

Some of Dell's displays actually did have similar bezels/stands to a few Planar models.

I'm a big fan of Planar's stuff. Too bad their retail presence is virtually nil.

"If I were president of Dell, I would sell off the music division and give the proceeds to the shareholders."

Under that scenario, the shareholders would actually have to cough up more money to pay for all the losses Dell incurred in that area!
