BootCamp this weekend? - Mr645 - 10-23-2007
I know Bootcamp will expire Friday and I have already ordered 10.5, but I need Windows running this weekend, after BC 1.4 expires but before my 10.5 orders arrive.
I have 2 iMacs that qualify for the $995 OTD program
Now, will BC 1.4 still allow me to boot into Windows after Friday? Hopefully expiration is just an installation issue, not a running issue

I'm pretty sure it's an installation/support deadline. I doubt very seriously Apple will have done anything that will make it "expire" and not run past Friday.

It's amazing how quickly Google can get a sit indexed. I didn't know what "OTD" was referring to, so I Googled, "bootcamp otd" and the third or fourth result was this post.
Unfortunatly, I still don't know what OTD means. Anyone????

my bad. UTD = Up to Date program, buy a Mac after Oct 1st and upgrade to the latest OS for $9.95

I am pretty sure that MR645 means the "Up To Date" program, and to put $9.95.
You are correct, this place is well "botted" by WebCrawlers.

the Boot Camp beta assistant will cease to properly function, disallowing the creation of new Boot Camp partitions, the ability to apply Boot Camp updates and more.

Please let me make sure I understand this.
I have an iMac 2.16 C2D OS 10.4.10 with BC 1.4Beta installed. Oct 26th is right around the corner.
Does this mean that the Beta drivers that have been installed on the Boot Camp partition will continue to work indefinitely, but will not be "supported" by further upgrades? Or, does this mean that Apple has imbedded a "kill switch" type code that will not allow the Boot Camp drivers to work any more with a Windows installlation?
From an article I have read: "While licenses will expire when Leopard launches, Apple has confirmed that Windows partitions created with Boot Camp will continue to work. However, the Boot Camp Assistant, software that sets up and manages Windows partitions, will not."
I am assuming that there will be no change to the Boot Camp partition, but just like OS 9.2.2, there will be no further support.

The Boot camp Assistant application (beta) will no longer be available on the Apple site.
I have a MacBook with a Windows partition set up by Boot Camp Assistant.app (latest beta version). That partition will still be usable after Oct 26. I will not be able to re-create it with this BC Ass't.app version if I need to, but what I have will still work.
If you need to use Boot Camp Assistant after Oct 26, you will have to buy Leopard or use your backup Windows partition to replace the faulty one.
