I suggest Panasonic. I have 3 and 1 sony for comparison. The Panny is a real workhorse - more than 1000 dvds burned.

I just have to ask why you don't plug it into your mac and burn the dvd in iMovie instead of buying anything? I assume you either don't have the right cables or don't have a DVD burner?

what model panny? pinion, i don't want to capture every tape for these guys if they can just plug in the camera and burn a dvd. all they want to do is take it home and review it. And I don't want them taking the camera home and hooking it up to a tv, when someone may need it to shoot in the evening. am I missing something?

Sorry, I must have read your first post wrong. I was under the assumption you had this footage already recorded and you needed to burn DVD's for staff to watch. Now I see you need something easy to use that any of the staff can make their own DVD's with any footage taken now or in the future. I gotcha.

I heard that the Panasonic DMR-ES15S was a good one. It has a firewire port which is nice. I don't know what your price range is since it's a work item but this model can be a bit pricey. I looked it up on Amazon and apparently lots of people there really like it.

I like my Lite-On. It's got the hacked firmware to allow it to disable macrovision protection so I can copy old videotapes to it.

I haven't seen many DVD Recorders with a built-in hard drive(DVR) lately. About a year ago they
seem to be popping up everywhere but not now, what gives? It looks like Circuit City has one.
