windows experts? what is Cycle database password? worm? - zero - 10-24-2007 My friend, running Win XP, gets a dialogue box on startup that says "The Cycle Database is Password protected. Please enter your password and click OK". Is this a virus or something? How can we get rid of it? I looked up "Cycle Database Password" and it refers to Windows NT, not Windows XP. TIA Re: windows experts? what is Cycle database password? worm? - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-24-2007 I have never heard of it. There is nothing on the M$ site about it within the search terms I thought of using. Looking through search results on Google makes me think that it is related to an Access database, but my guess is it would only come up at startup if the computer had been used as a terminal/workstation to run a database server and was trying to log back in (automatically?). Is it a home or work computer? Has it been scanned for malware? Re: windows experts? what is Cycle database password? worm? - zero - 10-24-2007 It is a home computer, used only for internet, Microsoft Office, etc. It is not a work "networked" computer. I scanned the computer using Norton Anti Virus. I did install Microsoft Active Sync on the computer recently. Could that be it? Re: windows experts? what is Cycle database password? worm? - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-24-2007 Scanning with a fully updated version of Norton is more effective than sacrificing a goat. If installing ActiveSync is the only thing recently changed, my guess would be it is the most likely cause. |
