Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - BigGuynRusty - 10-24-2007 "DiskWarrior and other tools that modify or rebuild the directory of volumes should not be run after installing Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) until further notice or updates from the developers of these tools." http://www.macfixit.com/ BGnR Who wants to start the "Who Whines First" pool? Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - Racer X - 10-24-2007 I for one, am outraged! I'm going back to OS 8.6, where all my utilities work! Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - ka jowct - 10-24-2007 Geez, is every problem with Leopard going to be dismissed as whining? Not being able to run Disk Warrior would be quite a bad thing for anyone unlucky enough to run into disk problems shortly after going Spotted. Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - sekker - 10-24-2007 I made it a policy not to upgrade to 10.4 until I had a decent working version of diskwarrior. With Leopard and time machine, I suspect it may be less of an issue. Nevertheless, I always recommend caution with mission-critical computers and new (or even incremental) OS updates. I took this to be a fresh reminder to consider 10.5.0 to definitely be a work in progress. Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - incognegro - 10-24-2007 hard to imagine, given that Alsoft probably doesn't have the final version of Leopard yet. 8-) Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - MacArtist - 10-24-2007 [quote incognegro]hard to imagine, given that Alsoft probably doesn't have the final version of Leopard yet. 8-) That's what I was thinking. I have seen other software developers already advertising their products are Leopard compatible. If you take a good look at those apps, you'll find that they don't manipulate the system the way Diskwarior does. If Leopard has made any changes to the underlying file system I would be wary of running any disk utility other than Apple's own Disk Utility. Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - MacArtist - 10-24-2007 Good point, richolin. One should never, ever, run apps such as DW on a system unless the software developer states that they support that system. It should be a given that DW wont run on Leopard unless they say it does. Re: Warning: Do not run DiskWarrior or similar utilities on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - jdc - 10-24-2007 im not sure about everyone else, but i havent used or bought DW -- or any other disk utilities -- in years OS X has been pretty much 100% trouble free since i switched to Jag |
