12" PowerBook fan run a lot? - JEBB - 02-10-2006

I recently bought a new (Apple refurb) 12" 1.5 GHz PowerBook. Its fan runs a lot, much more than did the fan in my 900 G3 iBook before it. Is that normal?

It has MacOS 10.3.9 with 768MB RAM.

It did have a warped bottom case and wouldn't sit flat. I sent it to AppleCare and they replaced that part of the case only yesterday at the Memphis repair center. I don't recall the fan running so much before I sent it but I could be mistaken.

Also, where does the cooling air exit? Is it through the keyboard or thru that grill on the lowerleft side?

Set CPU performance to "Highest" in the Energy Saver pref pane.

I've got a 1.33GHz 12" PB and the fan doesn't run all the time, but it does run much more often than my iBook.
